Propionate as a precursor of milk constituents in the intact dairy cow.

چکیده
The importance of propionate in intermediary metabolism is generally recognized (1). Reid (2) concludes from his work on sheep that for these animals propionic acid is the chief source of blood glucose. Similarly McClymont (3) suggests that ruminants in general maintain their blood sugar level by gluconeogenesis from propionic acid. Injection of C14-labeled propionate into a cow’s blood stream enabled us to measure the rate at which this metabolite is oxidized by a normal intact cow and to investigate the part it plays in the synthesis of milk constituents.

A New Idea in Animal Science: The First Application of the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) Model in Selection of the Best Dairy Cow
The final goal of all dairy cow raising systems in the world is to use the available capacities and the cooperation of other sectors in order to solve the problems and issues, such as the limitations in time, man power and financial resources, for providing a complete answer. Therefore, the need for optimization of cow raising systems by prioritization of measures and plans is the most obvious ...

Successful pasture-based milk production systems pivot on balancing dairy cows’ feed requirements with seasonal and annual fluctuations in pasture production. In order to maximise cow production from grazing dairy systems, it is necessary to reach an efficient utilization of grazed grass for feeding cows and the development of appropriate grazing management systems designed to maximize daily pa...

Introduction: Mycotoxins are among the environmental chemical agents with toxic effects on animals and humans. Aflatoxins (AF) are a major group of mycotoxins produced following the growth of some species of Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus parasiticus, particularly in agricultural products. Aflatoxin M1 (AFM1) is secreted to milk and remains there since the process of pasteurization and ster...
